The base component for brick mortar mix or jointing cement, Brickies Sand is mixed with other materials such as cement, lime and water to achieve the desired mix (please consult a bricklayer for mix ratios) As a naturally occurring product, Brickies Sand varies in colour between quarries in Perth and is typically a slightly lighter colour from North of the River quarries. This sand can also be used as paving sand and compacts well due to a higher clay and fine silt content than Plastering Sand. However it can be more difficult to screed (level off) due to the increased clay content in the sand forming a crust on the surface.
